The high was all that mattered
26 Jul 2007
I used ecstasy because it felt good. It sounds stupid, now…but at the time that was all that seemed to matter: the feeling, the high. I used ecstasy because using ecstasy made me feel better than anything in the world, and no price…not even drug addiction and drug abuse…was too high to pay for that.
Ecstasy abuse ruined my life, more or less: made me a stranger to my family, cut me off from my friends, cost me a job that I’d love to have back. The only good news: Ecstasy abuse didn’t kill me. It might have, if I hadn’t gotten help from a professional rehab center. But I did. And it made all the difference.
My rehab center program gave me my self back, and my dignity; my rehab center program helped me reclaim all the things…the hope and joy and vitality…that addiction stripped away, and taught me to be in and of the world without caving to my desire to use. Addiction treatment was the best thing that ever happened to me. It can be just as good for you, so long as you’re willing to take the first step.
